My HP 6970 printer recently installed the latest firmware and now I'm having numerous problems... mainly with the printer cartridges but other issues too. I am not using HP brand cartridges but have been using this other brand for sometime with no problems and it's what I have on hand. I see in other posts numerous people are having the same problem. I need to be able to print today, do not have access to getting hp cartridges, and need to be able to downgrade my firmware now. I always been a loyal HP user and have had many HP printers in the past and never experienced a problem like this. I hope to be able to continue using HP products. Please advise...

Thank you for the information you provided. However, it did not resolve my problem. I did contact tech support and was told there was no way to install an earlier version of the firmware. Unfortunately my printer was manufactured after December 2016 so with the firmware that I recently installed I will only be able to use HP cartridges. It would have been very helpful had that information been provided in the message when I was asked to do the update. I'm disappointed in hp and feel I should be able to use the ink of my choice. After using hp exclusively for the past several years this "security" feature will definitely be a deciding factor in the next printer I buy.

Thanks for replying @Jo955
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
