HP Envy 4500 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I have a HP Envy 4500 wireless printer.

The printer has been displaying a message that a product update is available.

The update downloads, the printer says it is updating and not to power off, after a moment a message appears to say that the product update has been installed successfully please wait while the printer restarts.

Now an HP logo appears for a moment, the printer then displays a contrary message to say that the update was unsuccessful, the printer then restarts again and displays a final message saying again that the update was unsuccessful and to try again manually.

This cycle repeats. I can still print for the time being.

I have now had an email from HP to advise that if I don't update my printer in the next few weeks, my ink subscription will end.

Can anyone help as I simply cant get the update to install successfully?

Hi @Weezey1975,

I'd like to help!

Try the below suggestions-

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

Sorry but having no luck.

Have disconnected printer power for extended time and reconnected.

Tried product update direct from printer and still same problem.

Tried downloading and sending product update from computer and that has failed also.

Printer goes through 5 steps, reboots, then error code returned on printer OX83COOOOA  NOS_LOADER_APP.

Then have to power off printer again, then get a device update report printed automatically.

HP Smart APP advises printer has firmware version MKM1FN1312ER.

Is that the latest firmware for the printer?

Product update still says that there is an update available.

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
