I would like to find the raw .bdl file for printer M283FDW, the option to select this through the driver/software pages appears to have been removed.
Alternatively, a factory reset may provide a solution as well, wouldn't mind trying that first

@MMinMN25, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Request for HP M283fdw .bdl Firmware File & Factory Reset Assistance!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support Community. I understand you're looking for the raw .bdl firmware file for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw, but the option appears to be missing from the driver/software page. Additionally, you’d like to try a factory reset as a possible solution. I’d be happy to assist you.
Firmware File (.bdl) Availability
HP no longer provides .bdl firmware files for direct download due to security and update policies. If you need the latest firmware update for your printer, you can try the HP Firmware Update Utility, which automatically installs the latest version:
- Visit the HP Support page: HP Software and Driver Downloads
- Enter your printer model (HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw)
- Navigate to "Firmware" and download the latest available version
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions
If you specifically require the .bdl file for a manual update, I recommend reaching out to HP Support directly via chat or phone for further assistance.
Factory Reset Steps
If you’d like to try resetting your printer, follow these steps:
Using the Control Panel:
- On the printer’s Home screen, tap Setup.
- Navigate to Service > Restore Defaults.
- Select Restore Factory Defaults and confirm.
- The printer will restart automatically with default settings.

Using Embedded Web Server (EWS):
- Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer menu to find its IP address.
- Enter the IP address in a web browser to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
- Navigate to Settings > Restore Defaults > Reset Factory Settings.
- Confirm the reset, and the printer will restart.
If you continue facing issues after these steps, please let me know. I’d be happy to assist further.
