REMOVED SOFTWARE AND ONE PRINTER MFP-M277DW (had to return printer to prior employer and software has been fully uninstalled) and now receiving windows update errors (same error code for two PCs: Dell Inspiron and ASUS laptop) Re: HP - Printer - 8.1.1320.2917 and Install error - 0x800f020b. Originally, HP deferred to Microsoft and Microsoft is deferring back to HP, with no solutions. HELP.. I really don't want to wipe all instances of HP Color LaserJet, in the registry, as I still have one HP OfficeJet printer installed and setup. HELP, please..

@darnovitz, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PRINTER MFP-M277DW windows update errors!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
To get a better idea of the situation, could you clarify a few things for me?
When you try to update Windows, do you see this error only for the HP Printer update, or does it affect other updates as well?
Have you already tried manually removing the MFP-M277dw printer from Devices and Printers and checking for any remaining HP-related entries in Device Manager under “Print queues” and “Software devices”?
Do you still see the MFP-M277dw listed in Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, or does it only appear in the Windows Update queue?
Let me know what you find, and we’ll work through this together! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
