HP Recommended

In my situation, I upgraded my OS to Windows 11 on my computer. My printer is not on the list of computers that Windows 11 supports. When I reconnected my printer to my network, I received and ip address starting with 169.254.... (don't know if that is significant to this story, but included anyway). How do I get my printer to be recognized again?  What can I do if my printer is not supported by Windows 11?
