I'm having the exact same issue with my 8015e, the same Get HP Software screen and everything. The "?" button just takes me to a screen saying "Get HP Software" and, underneath, "HP Software is required to complete setup". These are the only two screens visible on the control panel, with the only options being going between the two. I've turned off and on, and unplugged it for 60+ seconds to reset it.
I can find the printer on the HP smart app on my phone, but the app just says to put the printer into Wi-Fi setup mode. The control panel changes to a screen that says "Printer has been found by HP Smart App" and does nothing else. I cannot find the printer from my computer. It was working fine for 6 months until this morning.

Hi @mashbash,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're stuck on the "Get HP Software" screen on your HP OfficeJet 8015e printer, and you're right—sometimes it’s frustrating when the solutions are vague. Let’s try to resolve this step-by-step.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds to reset it fully.
- Plug it back in and try again.
Cancel or Skip Setup:
- On the printer screen, look for a back arrow or cancel button, even though it's not always labeled explicitly.
- If you can’t find one, try pressing and holding the power button for about 10-15 seconds to cancel any current operation.
- Then, restart the printer.
Setup via HP Smart App:
- If the printer still won't get past this screen, try setting it up via the HP Smart App (available for both Windows and mobile devices).
- Open the app and follow the prompts to connect the printer to Wi-Fi, bypassing the setup screen.
Hard Reset (Factory Reset):
- If it’s still stuck, you can try a hard reset to revert the printer to factory settings:
- Press and hold the Cancel and Wi-Fi buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds.
- This will reset the printer, and you can then try to go through the setup again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
