@Connie33

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you want to Re-Install the drivers for your HP Photosmart7520 printer,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you attempt reinstalling the drivers from root level?

When was the last time it worked?

Why are you in need of reinstalling the drivers, could you elaborate on the issue?

While you respond to that,

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click here to download and install a fresh copy of windows.

Keep me posted,

Hi!

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't do anything with the drivers individually - I thought when I un-installed the printer it did that. At any rate, I found my CD and re-installed the printer.

The printer is working now but has the same problem I have dealt with since I bought it years ago....once I turn it on fresh it will take a command to print, an even a few minutes later. AFTER THAT though, I have to turn it off and on to get it to print again  and repeat that all day long if I don't use it for awile. i cant believe I have done this for so long but it loses connection to my network if I don't actively print.

Someone told me that it goes asleep and the settig cannot be changed.  Thanks

@Connie33

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

I'm glad it's working, however, to clarify on the issue with restarting the printer before getting a printout,

Is the printer connected via a wired or a wireless internet?

That said, here's what you need to know:

Step 1: Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

If you have Windows 8 or 10, use HP Printer and Scan Doctor to automatically fix several types of problems that can cause the printer to go offline. Skip to the next step if your computer does not have Windows 8 or 10.

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on, has paper installed, and is connected to your computer.

    • If you are using a USB cable connection, make sure the cable is connected to the printer and the computer.

    • If you are using a network cable connection, make sure a network cable is connected to the printer and your network router or hub.

    • If you are using a wireless connection, make sure the wireless light or wireless symbol on the printer is on and not blinking. Press the wireless button on the printer control panel to turn on wireless connectivity.

  2. From the computer that you are trying to print from, download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor. When this link is clicked, HP Print and Scan Doctor is downloaded using your Internet browser's download capabilities.

  3. If Print and Scan Doctor does not open automatically, double-click the HP Print and Scan Doctor icon on the Windows desktop.

  4. Click Start on the Welcome screen.

  5. Select your printer, and then click Next.

I deleted it yesterday by mistake. I have tried several times to download but it just keeps saying try to download again, I'm not sure what you mean by root download. I am using a Mac
