Gaya,

I have a new mac with Sequoia 15.2.  My Laserjet P1102w, model CE658A, which worked fine with my older mac.  I can load it on to the new mac, and select it to print, the mac thinks it is printing, but it is not.

Please advise with updated driver or software.

Hi @MDF2024

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems that your HP LaserJet P1102w printer is not working properly on your new Mac running macOS Sequoia 15.2 (likely a reference to macOS 15.x, as the Sequoia name isn't an official macOS version—though it could be a reference to the internal code name). Since the printer was working fine on your older Mac, this issue is likely related to either a driver mismatch or software compatibility issue with the newer macOS.

Here are the steps you can take to resolve the issue and get your printer working again on your new Mac:

1. Check for macOS Updates

  • Possible Cause: If your macOS is not up to date, certain printer drivers may be missing or not functioning properly.
  • Solution:
    1. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Software Update.
    2. Ensure that your macOS is fully up to date. If updates are available, install them, restart your Mac, and try printing again.

2. Install the Latest HP Printer Drivers

  • Possible Cause: The preinstalled printer drivers in macOS may be outdated or incompatible with macOS 15.2.
  • Solution:
    1. Download the Latest Driver from HP:
      • Go to the official HP support website and search for the HP LaserJet P1102w printer model (CE658A).
      • Download the latest driver for macOS (look for the correct version for macOS 15.x).
    2. Install the Driver: Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.
    3. Restart your Mac: After installation, restart your Mac and try printing again.

3. Use macOS Built-In AirPrint (If Available)

  • Possible Cause: macOS might not have installed the correct driver automatically.
  • Solution:
    1. Check if AirPrint is available for your printer. Many modern HP printers are compatible with AirPrint, a wireless printing feature built into macOS.
    2. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    3. Select your HP LaserJet P1102w from the list. If AirPrint is available, it will be listed as a driver option.
    4. If it is listed, select AirPrint as the printer driver, and try printing again.

4. Remove and Re-add the Printer

  • Possible Cause: There may be a conflict with the current printer setup.
  • Solution:
    1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your HP LaserJet P1102w printer and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
    3. Click the plus (+) button to add the printer back. Select the HP LaserJet P1102w from the list and choose the correct driver (either the updated HP driver or AirPrint if applicable).
    4. Test printing again.

5. Check Wireless Connectivity (For Wireless Printing)

  • Possible Cause: If you're trying to print wirelessly, there could be a problem with the wireless connection between your Mac and the printer.
  • Solution:
    1. Check the Printer’s Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that the HP LaserJet P1102w is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
    2. Print a Network Configuration Page: You can print a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to check the

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Same problem here.
I've tried all the options you gave me, but it doesn't work.
It's not fair that I can not use my printer just because I update my computer os.
