We have a officejet pro shared over local LAN in office and do not have admin credentials available in-hand. Here is what we tried to recover access to the admin portal/EWS:
- Initial Encounter: When trying to Scan to Email, filling up the sender info and hitting scan, gives error of incorrect user credentials.
- Tried to access printer using network Ip, scan to email feature was locked and asked for sign in. After 10 best guess with each 3 unsuccess trail getting network blocked by printer.
- Performed Semi-Full Reset the printer, using 4 times pressing back and accessing Service menu.
- Result: initially asked for country date and language setup. But then it retained all the settings existed.
- Online says: check cartridge compartment/ bottom of printer, there would be PIN sticker, but found nothing.
- Found the PC where Officejet pro desktop app, presumably was initially set up as it shows the scan to pc & scan to email set to the referenced pc and , tried to access the scan to email feature, at least came to know the username, but still no access to password.
Please tell us, how to gain back the access.

This is the only reset I know of, if it does not work you will have to contact an agent and explain the situation.
How to contact an HP agent:
Sign in to your support page
Select the product you need help with and scroll down to support options.
Select "Contact us". You can change country and language if necessary.
If you are out of warranty, you might consider asking Microsoft's Copilot for advice. Be sure to identify your product, what the problem is, and ask for videos.
There is also HP smart friend but Copilot is not restricted on answering certain questions.
