HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 All-in-One Printer

Hi there,

I moved to the US from the UK meaning I purchased 902XL cartridges for my printer but it is now telling me that they are not compatible as the UK version were 903XL.

Is there anyone from HP Support who can help me with steps to regionalise my printer in the US so I can use my new 902XL purchased cartridges?

Thanks,

Lee

Hi @LeeH7774,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you are moving a printer from the UK to the US, you may need to reset the region settings on the printer to ensure it works properly in its new location. Here are the steps you can take to reset the region settings on your printer.

  1. Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Check your printer manual or manufacturer's website to determine whether it has a region setting that needs to be changed.
  3. If your printer has a region setting, locate the reset button or option on the printer. This may be labeled as "Reset," "Restore Defaults," or something similar.
  4. Press and hold the reset button for a few seconds or select the reset option from the printer's menu.
  5. Wait for your printer to finish resetting. This may take a few minutes, so be patient.
  6. Once your printer has finished resetting, plug it back in and turn it on.
  7. Connect your printer to your computer or network and test it to make sure it is working properly.

If you are unsure about how to reset the region settings on your printer, you can refer to the printer manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your reply Alden4,

Very much appreciated.

I followed the steps you mentioned and ensured the region was set correctly to the US in the printer settings after the reset.

I also scoured the manual for any references to region reset but didn’t find anything referenced.

The printer is still telling me the incorrect cartridges are installed.

From the other printer region reset posts and solutions here in the forums, it appears that I need to share some text generated by a particular screen in the full printer app on a PC with an HP employee via DM/PM and they then share back a code to enter in the same screen which allows the printer to perform the region change.

I have accessed that screen and have the details to share if the same process needs to be followed here too?

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Lee
