Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was having trouble printing as well as scanning on my printer.  Suddenly, I lost my ability to print wirelessly to my printer and scanning didn't work.

I have never had trouble with the printer after years of use.  When I did, I simply reinstalled the printer software and drivers in full.

So, I tried to reinstall the printer software.  It downloaded, and I tried to run it both directly from HP's site as well as from a saved copy download from the HP site.  (File name - LJM1130_M1210_MFP_Full_Solution)

In each case, when I tried to run the installation software, everything looked fine through the extraction process, but no installation window ever appeared in any of the attempts.

I recently change my wireless network, but have had no problems reconnecting my wife's printer, my computer and the cell phones.  I have also been able to print from my wife's mac to the printer ... no problems.

I deleted the printer software from using the control panel function, and when I still couldn't reinstall the printer software, I deleted a file in program files\hp\.  I could not delete file in same dir named:HP Touchpoint Analytics Client as it was said to be in use.

Can you help me?

Thanks,

Doug

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Thank you for the brief description of the issue.

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-laserjet-pro-m1217nfw-multifunction-pr... to download and install the drivers.

Assign Manual IP to the printer:

1) Print a Network configuration page from the printer's control panel.

2) Look for IP address from the Network configuration page.

3) Open web browser - Chrome or IE or any other browser that you are using.

4) Type the IP address mentioned on Network configuration page into the browser's address bar or URL bar and press enter button.

5) Go to the Network tab.

6) Click on Networking from the left pane.

7) Then click on Network Address (IP).

😎 Click on Manual IP Address and go to suggest a Manual IP.

9) Scroll down the screen and select Manual DNS server.

10) Enter the Primary and secondary DNS server from the Network Configuration page into the Manual Preferred DNS server field.

11) Click on Apply.

Refer to the video link for step by step instructions - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCnYyq80V9g

Note: The video is for win 8 but steps are similar for other operating systems as well. You need to enter the IP address in the browser's URL or the address bar to access the printer page.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Thanks so much for the reponse!

I have been trying to get the printer working, but have not been able to.

I can get the software for the printer, but when I click on the saved version on my pc or try to run it from the HP site, it does not install.  Trying to running it from the site initially showed it was extracting, but no longer extracts.  Running it from the saved version on my pc does extract, but does not install (does not show the install windows).

Can you help?

Thanks,

Doug

@DougD6,

I read the post comprehensively. Brilliant efforts and great technical competence have been displayed by you.

It is awesome to hear from you again. As @Raj1788 is out for the day, I am responding on his behalf.

  • Please perform these steps now:
  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.

Now if the installation does not autorun then go to this path:

Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open -

Then type "%Temp%" without the quotes and click on OK.

Then open the 7zS5CF5

Then double-click on HpSetup.exe to run the laserjet setup file and install it on the computer.

This should fix the issue.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
