Hello, I set an admin password through EWS and now when I enter it it says it's incorrect. I tried wireless settings reset - "hold the cancel and power button for 3 seconds", but the admin password is still there and not letting me do anything. How do I remove it?

Thank you.

Hi. I managed to solve my own problem.

When setting the administrator password, I used a password manager to generate a password longer than 16 characters, and pasted it into the password field. Thing is, the printer doesn't seem to support more than 16 characters for the administrator password, and doesn't seem to run checks for length, at least when copy-pasting. The solution was to trim the password to the first 16 characters and enter that into the field.

Thank you for your help regardless.

Cheers,

Nikola

@Niktss,

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to reset the EWS password on the printer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

As I see that you have already tried the network reset and it didn’t help. There is no other way to reset the EWS password. I recommend you try resetting the network and check if it helps.

If you continue facing the issue, then I recommend you contact support to further diagnose the issue.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

P.S: Welcome to the HP Support Community 😊
