HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 All In One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I'm trying to help an office of ours with our printer while I am in town. They had previously employed an IT person, who set up a pin code on the printer, as well as a username and password in the EWS. This person is no longer contactable and we are unable to change any settings on the printer.

I've tried a 'semi-full' reset, and am still locked out as I was before.

Any assistance would be appreciated, thanks.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Flower_Bud is at your service.

As I understand, you wish to reset the pin code and username/Password for EWS page,

I'd like to thank you for the detailed description of your concern, as you have ensured I don't have to ask any more questions, that said,

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Restore the printer to the original network settings

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).

2. Touch Network Setup.

3. Touch Restore Network Settings.

A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.

4. Touch Yes.

Once completed, reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi network:

Connect the printer to your network with the Wireless Setup Wizard so the HP installer can find the printer during the installation.

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Wireless icon .

  2. Touch the Setup icon .

  3. Touch Wireless Settings, and then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

    Figure: Wireless Settings display

    Image: Wireless Settings display
  4. Touch the name of your network in the list of available networks, and then touch OK.

    Figure: Example of network names

    Image: Network names
  5. If the list does not contain your network name, touch Enter New Network Name, and then follow the on-screen instructions to enter your network name.

  6. If prompted, type the WEP or WPA key (network password), and then touch Done.

A summary screen displays. Touch OK to return to the home screen.

NOTE: If a connection error message displays, make sure you typed the uppercase (capital) and lowercase (small) letters for the network name and password exactly. Follow the prompts to type the information again.

This should help in removing any password set on the printer. Let me know how this goes 🙂

For I shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again,

Have a great day 🙂

Cheers 🙂

Hi,

It turns out (after two days of investigation with HP on the phone), that the ability to factory reset had been disabled within the service menu.

This was opaque, even to most of the HP employees  I spoke with, and while everyone was eager to help, this has altogether been quite a frustrating experience.

In any event, sorted out now, thanks.
