Hello @pyro727, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please let us know the printer's name and the model number along with the network setup of the HP device so that we can assist you further?

If you've forgotten the PIN required for scanning features such as Scan to Email or Scan to Network Folder, you can reset or remove it through the printer's settings. The easiest method is through the HP Smart App, which provides access to the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Method 1: Reset the PIN Using the HP Smart App

The HP Smart App allows you to access advanced printer settings and modify scan security options.

  1. Open the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Select your printer and click Printer Settings or Advanced Settings.
  3. The printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) will open in your web browser.
  4. Navigate to Settings, Security, or the relevant Scan Settings section.
  5. Locate the PIN, password, or scan security settings.
  6. Change the PIN to a new one or remove the PIN requirement, if supported by your printer model.
  7. Save the changes and test the scanning feature.

Method 2: Restore Network Defaults

If you've lost access to the printer settings because the PIN is unknown, restoring network settings can often reset access credentials.

  1. On the printer control panel, open Setup, Network Setup, or Wireless Settings.
  2. Select Restore Network Defaults.
  3. Confirm the reset and allow the printer to restart.
  4. Reconnect the printer to your Wi‑Fi network using the HP Smart App.
  5. Access the printer settings again and reconfigure any scanning features as needed.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
