Recently I have moved to the US but my printer I bought in the UK will not take official HP ink because it is region locked. How can I change my printer region to the US?

The printer I have is an OfficeJet Pro 8710, and I have a Mac. Can I do a regional reset?

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

 

If you move to a different country we need to perform a regional reset in order to make the printer work in the new region. I will surely help you with the Regional reset.

 

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.

2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.

4. Make sure HP Smart App is installed too.

Is there a way to do this without connecting to a computer? Can I do this via the printer's embedded web server? I don't even know if I have a USB cable to connect to the printer any more...

We are sorry that the issue is not resolved when the above troubleshooting steps were performed.

 

The USB connection is must.

This might require one-on-one interaction to fix the issue via remote assistance.

1. Click on this link -  https://support.hp.com/us-en

2. Select the country.

3. Enter the serial number of your device.

4. Select the country from the drop-down.

5. Click on "Show Options".

6. Fill out the web form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

I got a USB cable and connected to my printer, and opened up the HP Smart app but I do not get a pop up to reset the region. Where can I find the settings? The one I see already claims the printer is set to US but it doesn't accept US cartridges...
