I have stopped my Instant ink account because we were not using the Office Jet 5200 printer. I still have the cartridges that were supplied but have not been using them. What is the easiest way to restart the ink supply account and just start using the cartridges I already have?

The Short Answer:

You do NOT have to subscribe to Instant Ink --

You cannot use the Instant Ink cartridges you have now.

Start here:

Why am I unable to print with HP Instant Ink cartridges?

Comments, Contact Information, "What to do"

This is a "good news" and "bad news" situation.

1)  You do not have to enroll in Instant Ink -- If the service does not make sense for your printing needs, don't do that.

2)  The Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges only ever work with an active subscription.

Once the subscription is terminated, Instant Ink cartridges that you were sent previously won't start working again.  Even were you to enroll in a service you no longer want, the ink cartridges you have now that were part of the previous subscription will not start working.

What?

Ink, whether a drop or a bucket full, is included with the Print-by-Page Instant Ink Subscription.

HP retains ownership of all Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges.

After the subscription is terminated for any reason, you can (and should) return all your Instant Ink cartridges to HP.

This includes any cartridges that were activated as part of the original service, cartridges you used as part of the service but did not yet return, and any unused cartridges that you never used during your service contract.

The return service is free.

Note

If you cannot return the ink as described in the document, you can still request a free return envelope for your ink from the Recycle Service website.

If all else fails, you can contact Instant Ink Support (contact information is provided later in this message).

Instant Ink Support lives to sell you a subscription -- that said, you should be able to get  help without enrolling.
