Microsoft Windows 11

I have an hp smart tank 750 printer. Photo print nicely but there is a non-printed margin of about 1/4 inch on the right side of the print. How can I fix that?

Welcome to the HP Community --

The results are impacted by the Operating System / version and the application / software you are using.

Important - Scaling

Aspect Ratio

For a clean / unedited Borderless print, the shape of the original image file must exactly match the shape of the paper you are using.

Borderless Printing

Whether you can control or must ignore the Aspect Ratio depends on the controls available in your printing application / software.

=====================================

Printer - HP Smart - Windows

Some applications, including HP Smart - Windows - bypass the user's direct control of Aspect Ratio when resizing a print to match the shape of the paper.

For example,

If the shape of the original image file does not match the shape of the paper, adjustments must be made to force the image to match the shape of the paper.  Depending on the app / software you are using, this edit option might be called "Crop".  Crop can change the content included in the printed image, perhaps cutting one side or another when the image is forced to the shape of the paper.

The alternative to "Crop" that forces the image to be fitted to the shape of the paper:  "Shrink to Fit".  This method maintains the original shape of the image but can result in a white margin on one or more sides.

Example - HP Smart - Windows - Simple Photo Print - 4x6 inch - Borderless

=====================================

Printer - Microsoft / Windows Photos

Example - Photos - 4x6 inch - Portrait - Borderless (Fill page)

Photos_Print_4x6_2Photos_Print_4x6_2

Example - Photos - Letter Size paper - 5x7 inch print - Shrink to Fit (original size)

Note:  Requires manual cut and trim to create a borderless type print

=====================================

Printer - Irfanview - Free - Editing / Print Software

Note:  Use requires that the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software is installed.

Irfanview provides an exceptional software experience that can be used for a variety of scan and print tasks, including custom print size, tiles, and the “Mirror” or horizontal flip function, and several other options not found elsewhere.
