Is there any possibility to rollback to a previous firmware on the Deskjet Ink Advantage 5275 All-In-One-Ptinter on Windows 10 ?

It appears that there is no way to rollback to a previous firmware.

I find this rather annoying mostly for those who could get compatibility issues after a firmwar upgrade.

Sorry for the very late reply. I had almost given up using my HP printer since the latest firmware has prevented me from using my home refills which gave me no problem untill the latest firmware update.

The error I'm getting now is:

"The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer. If the problem persists, replace the cartridges."

This message came up just after the latest firmware update.

I told you what the error is but still no solution. And not even a reply.

Hi @Coral5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Deskjet 5575 Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

You may try to download the old firmware and then try to roll back to the previous firmware version. However, sometimes it may not work depending on few printer models. In those cases, we can try performing a Semi-Full reset.

Download firmware update

  • Follow these steps to check for the latest firmware updates for your printer using the HP website.
  • Make sure the printer is on and connected to the computer, either through your local network or a USB cable.
  • Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
  • If a Let's identify your product to get started page displays, click Printer, type your printer model number, and then click Submit.
  • The software results page for your printer displays with the default operating system selected.
  • If you need to change the version of Windows, click Change, select your version, and then click Change.
  • Click Firmware, and then click Download.
  • If a Firmware section is not listed, an update is not currently available for your printer.
  • Save the file to your computer.
  • Locate and then open the file to start the installation process.

FTP command

  • The following solution will work on most networks. Use the FTP command as follows:
  • Enter a DOS prompt:
  • On the computer desktop, click Start, Run.
  • In the command line, type in cmd and click OK.
  • Go to the directory where the file is located (make sure that the file is decompressed and not in a .zip format).
  • Type the following command: ftp (IP address) *Where the IP address is the network address of the plotter.
  • At the prompt for a login, press ENTER to bypass.
  • At the prompt for a password, press ENTER to bypass.
  • At the ftp> prompt, type the following command: put (filename and extension). *Where filename is the name of the file to be copied.

If the issue persists, then we need to perform a Semi full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

This does not allow me to go to a previous firmware.

As In have explained in my reply to your PM. The firmware has not gone back to the one there was when I bought the printer.

Ask for help about rolling back to previous firmware and you hit a double brick wall.

HP knows that using refilled cartridges will not damage the printer. Yet they want you to use their cartridges so that they can have another bite off you.

@Coral5,

Thank you for your response, HP does not stop customers from using refilled inks.

You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.

There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why its not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your patience. I appreciate it.

The message I have been getting after the firmware update is the following:

"The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer.

If this problem persists replace the cartridges."

I used an original cartridge which I have used on the same printer and which I have refilled.

I never had any problems with a refilled original cartridge untill I updated the printer with the latest firmware.
