HP Inkjet 3760
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

A friend has a Windows 10 PC using the 5G band on her router. She wants to use the HP Inkjet 3760 using wifi. Her router has 2.4G band as well as 5G.

What precise steps should she use to keep her PC on 5G but talk to her 3760 on 2.4G. Note the 5G and 2.4G have different SSIDs on the router. I guess some login procedure in the HP software on her PC?

Any advice please?

After some trials I think I have found out what to do. To summarize I copy the text of an email I have sent to my friend. Please advise if I have got things wrong?

"

I have used my old laptop to connect to our Virgin HUB 3 using its 5G band. I then wirelessly connected my HP Envy 4507 printer to The Virgin HUB 3 2.4G band. So laptop on 5G and printer on 2.4G. However I did not use HP Smart as such; after connection I used HP Smart just to see the settings. On my printer I have a button that shows me its settings; those matched the settings in HP Smart.

I then opened up WORD Free Online and did a test document. I selected Print, in WORD, then my printer. It seems that the WORD software in conjunction with the printer created a pdf of my WORD doc then sent that to the printer. I did the same for EXCEL; again a pdf was created and printed. I did not use HP Smart for these operations; I wonder if HP Smart is for when you want to send a document to your printer via email (useful for workers on road to send back to office?)- I have been given a HP printer email address specifically for my printer.

I have also sent a pdf from my 5G tablet to the printer.

So it seems that connecting the printer to the HUB 3 is separate from connecting the laptop to the HUB3 so using different bands does not matter."
