I purchased my HP OFFICE JET 5258 quite some time ago. It was actually cheaper to buy a new printer than to purchase the ink cartridges alone. It is out of warranty [Personal Information Removed] I'm sure. I just used the ink cartridges for my other HP printer. Not realizing until today (three + years later) I need setup cartridges to get the printer working, but I don't have any. What can I do to get the printer working? Can I get replacement setup cartridges, is there any kind of work around? I've tried the Virtual Assistant to no avail. I'm stopped @ "Use SETUP cartridges" Apparently I've exhausted all the troubleshooting with the V/A and the V/A suggested (as a last ditch effort I guess) to ask here. So here we are... Thanks for your time and have a great day.

@STYFLAN-STYD, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you do not have the setup ink cartridges. We will have to perform an OOB reset on the printer to resolve this issue. To do this, you will need to insert both HP regular ink cartridges in the printer.
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 that I have had for several years. I just changed out an ink cartridge and now it is demanding the Setup cartridges in order to continue. I no longer have the setup cartridges. I threw them away after setting up my printer when I bought it several years ago. How do I get past this ridiculous screen so I can use my printer again??
