Hi stock4
It seems like the issue might be related to the printer driver software. This "sw helper" pop-up is usually tied to permissions needed to install or update software on your Mac. Here are some steps to help you solve it:
Confirm the password: The password it asks for is likely your Mac's administrator password (the one you use to log in or install applications).
Download the updated driver: Go to the official HP website and search for the OfficeJet 5258 printer to download the software or driver compatible with macOS (make sure to select the version matching your operating system).
HP Support Page: https://support.hp.com
Reinstall the driver:
Uninstall any printer software that you already installed.
Download and install the new driver from the official website.
Check permissions:
Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General tab, and check if there's any notification related to blocked HP software. If there is, unlock it by entering your password.
Try the default AirPrint setup:
Instead of using the HP driver, try adding the printer to your Mac by selecting "AirPrint" as the default option from System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
I hope the above is helpful
