Hi @Rachipie ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your Samsung ML-1610 is an older printer, and its compatibility with Windows 11 can be tricky due to outdated drivers. Here's a step-by-step guide to resolve the issue:
1. Verify Basic Setup
- Ensure the printer is properly connected to your computer.
- Check the USB cable connection.
- Confirm the printer is powered on and in a ready state.
2. Uninstall Old Drivers
- Press Windows + R, type control, and hit Enter.
- Go to Devices and Printers > Printers.
- Right-click the Samsung ML-1610 and select Remove device.
- Open Programs and Features (Control Panel > Programs) and uninstall any old Samsung printer software.
3. Install Samsung Universal Print Driver
- Samsung printers are now supported by HP Universal Print Drivers since HP acquired Samsung’s printer division.
- Download the HP Universal Print Driver (PCL 6 or PCL 5) from HP's official website or the HP Support Page.
- Install the driver and follow the prompts to connect your printer.
4. Use Compatibility Mode
- If the original ML-1610 driver is available, download it from Samsung's legacy support site or other trusted sources.
- Right-click the driver installer, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and set it to run in compatibility mode for Windows 10.
- Check Run as administrator and apply changes.
- Run the installer again.
5. Add the Printer Manually
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Navigate to Devices > Printers & scanners > Add a printer or scanner.
- If your printer is not detected automatically, select The printer that I want isn’t listed.
- Choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
- Select the correct USB port and install the Samsung ML-1610 driver (or the HP Universal Driver) from the list.
6. Test Printing
- Open a document or notepad and print a test page.
- If the issue persists, check the printer's status in Devices and Printers for errors.
7. Alternative: Use Windows Update
- Sometimes, Windows Update provides compatible drivers for older printers.
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.
- Check if a driver for the Samsung ML-1610 is listed and install it.
8. Verify Printer Spooler Service
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Find Print Spooler in the list and ensure it’s running. If not, right-click it and select Start.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
