Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I contacted HP support about a printing problem.  After chatting with Jyothi through the HP support page, for 2 1/2 hours the problem was not resolved.  The next day I received a call  from HP to help with my printer problem.  She said she was going to contact tech support to control my computer and solve the problem.  She then said it would cost $125 for the year.  Since my printer was still under warranty I said no.  She hung up on me. 

 

How did this scammer get my information if not from Jyothi who I was chatting  with for 2 1/2 hours?

I wonder if they were referring to the SmartFriend service but did not explain it very clearly? https://www.hp.com/ca-en/services/consumer/smartfriend-overview.html
