Scammers (edited) and SP EBC Web Services

I just want to alert the community that I fell victim to a scam.  I thought I was chatting with an HP Representative who convinced me that I needed software to remove malware from my laptop.  I consider myself savvy but I fell hook, line, and sink. I was googling download HP drivers and wound up on a site that infected my laptop. Then to "fix" the issue, I purchased HP Wolf security and Malwarebytes Pro (both legitimate software), but i also got roped into paying $500 for five years of what I thought was HP Support from HP. As it turns out, it wasn't HP.  The person with whom I chatted called himself Technical Support at HP.  He most definitely did NOT work for HP!!  Beware folks!!!

This seems to be happening more frequently. I have escalated your post to the moderators and and an HP rep may reach out to you via private message for more details. HP works hard to shut down these fake sites when they are made aware of them.
