Microsoft Windows 11

I have recently added another Samsung Xpress M2070W  to my network. I can print from my WIN11 Laptop but cannot scan. I can print and scan from my WIN10 laptop, though. I have spent hours trying installing drivers and troubleshooting software from HP but nothing works. HP seems very bad supporting Samsung printers. Also can not find any phone number for the UK. Can anybody please help ?

Hi  @Kaytea24,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out. I understand you've already put in considerable time working through driver installations and troubleshooting, and I appreciate the detailed information you've shared. I'll do my best to help you with this.

To better understand the situation, could you kindly confirm the following details?

  • Are you trying to scan using HP Easy Printer Manager, HP Scan, Windows Scan, or another application?
  • Does the scanner appear under Device Manager or Printers & Scanners on the Windows 11 laptop?
  • Do you receive any error messages when attempting to scan? If yes, kindly share the exact wording or a screenshot.
  • Is the printer connected via Wi-Fi or USB?

In the meantime, kindly try the following steps:

  1. Open Windows Services and verify that the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running:
    • Press Windows + R
    • Type services.msc
    • Locate Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
    • Ensure it is set to Automatic and is currently Running
  2. Test scanning using the built-in Windows Scan application:
    • Open Microsoft Store and install Windows Scan if it is not already installed.
    • Check whether the scanner is detected and able to complete a scan.
  3. Remove the printer completely from Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners, restart the PC, and then reinstall the latest full software package for your printer.
  4. Ensure that Network Discovery is enabled on the Windows 11 laptop:
    • Settings - Network & Internet  Advanced Network Settings - Advanced Sharing Settings
    • Turn on Network Discovery

I hope this helps.

Hi Deep_World,

thanks for replying to help me solving my problem. i am using Windows scan. Printer & Scanner appears. New Printer inquestion is the one ending ......AE3. I can scan with the other printer ending ....666.

(I'll include screenshot if I can). When scanning to AE3 it shows the printer, a little window saying "scanning" for a moment then  the error message: Problem Scanning. Can't find the scanner...... The printer actually wakes up and starts whirring but no scan occurs. THanks

Hi Deep_World,

a few more bits of info: the Pinter is on Wi-Fi. The WIA sevice is running. I use Windows Scan, which works with the other printer/scanner . I haven't removed the printer yet because I don't know what you mean by the full software package. Thanks again.

Hi @Kaytea24,

Thanks for your response and Thank you for providing the additional details. I understand how this must be, especially since printing works correctly and the scanner is detected, but scanning still fails with the message "Problem Scanning. Can't find the scanner."

Based on what you've shared:

Printer is connected via Wi-Fi,  Windows Scan is being used,  WIA service is running, Printer appears in Windows, Scanner works on another Samsung M2070W device but Scanning fails only with the printer ending in ...AE3

This points to a communication issue between Windows and the scanner service on that specific printer rather than a Windows Scan application problem.

Please try these simple steps:

  1. Remove the printer completely
    • Go to Settings -Bluetooth & devices -Printers & scanners
    • Select the Samsung M2070W
    • Click Remove device
  2. Restart both devices
    • Turn the printer off for 60 seconds.
    • Restart the Windows 11 PC.
    • Turn the printer back on.
  3. Install the full Samsung/HP software package
    • Download and install the Samsung Universal Print and Scan Driver or the full M2070W software package from HP Support  https://support.hp.com/ for your model.
    • During installation, select the printer on the network when prompted.
  4. Assign a fixed IP address to the printer
    • Print a Network Configuration Report and note the printer's IP address.
    • Access the printer's Embedded Web Server by entering the IP address into a web browser.
    • Configure the printer with a static/reserved IP address to prevent Windows from losing communication with the scanner.
  5. Test scanning again
    • First use HP Scan/Samsung Easy Printer Manager if installed.
    • Then test using Windows Scan.

      I hope this helps.
