Officejet 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased an Officejet 3830 and want to scan and convert to text.  On the menu on the printer it has the option but it tells me to download the software.  I do not see the option on CD it came with.  Can anyone recommend or help direct how I can utilize this option?

Hi,
The software provided for your device does not include OCR functionality
As you may find listed within the Scan file format section of its specifications, text files as TXT or RTF are not supported by the HP software:

You may use any 3rd part OCR solution to scan as editable text.

If you have Microsoft Office suite there is a good chance the office suite provide this kind of capabilities:

Office 2007 or 2010:

Office 2003:
