Scan to computer function suddenly stopped working

My scan to computer function suddently stopped working.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the FULL printer software.  I ran HP Print and Scan Doctor which stalls halfway through the process and won't give me any solutions.  I rebooted multiple times.   No Computer Found is shown on the printer screen, but when I check the printer icon it says everything is installed and running. The HP Printer Assistant does NOT show any Scanner Actions to select Manage Scan to Computer. 

What I can do is print with no problems the two are communicating properly through USB.  I can also scan to email, but that process is too onerous for what I need to do.  I just want to scan to computer directly.  HELP

Hi,

Can you scan from the HP software itself by clicking Scan a Document or Photo or do you get any error?

As the software was already reinstalled with no difference, have you tried another USB cable or another connectivity method such as a wireless connection? a connectivity problem would likely cause a such.

Also please ensure the USB cable is not longer than 2 meters long, directly connected to a USB port at the back of your computer (assuming it isn't a laptop), be sure not to use any USB hub, extension and also try connecting the cable to another port of your PC.

No I can't scan from the HP software on the computer.  Error message "HP ENVY 5660 Series not found". 

But in the settings under devices, it says the 5660 is set up and functioning. 

I can't scan to computer from the printer either.  It says No Computer found.

I can only scan to email from the screen on the printer. 

I have tried moving the USB cable to multiple different ports. No fix.

It's also a short USB cable.

Wireless printing is set up on the printer, but it still won't scan to computer. 

I have no USB hub or extension.

I tried updating the driver, but it says I have the most current driver. 

I'm at wits end.
