Hey @Sam8902👋,

Welcome to HP Support Community😀,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Prepare the New Page:

  • Make sure the page you want to add is ready and in the correct orientation.

Scan the New Page:

If you want to scan a document with several pages into one file instead of multiple files, start the scan with the printer software/HP Smart app instead of selecting Scan from the printer display, or use document feeder to scan.

  • Load the page you want to add into the scanner.
  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device (if you don’t have it, you can download it from HP’s website or your app store).
  • In the HP Smart app, select the “Scan” option.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to scan the new page. Once the scan is complete, you can either save it as a separate file or directly combine it with your existing document.

Change scan settings (Windows)

You can modify any of the scan settings either for a singular use or save the changes to use permanently. These settings include options such as page size and orientation, scan resolution, contrast, and the folder location for saved scans.

  1. Load the original into the document feeder or on the scanner glass. For information about how to load paper, see Load paper
  2. Open the HP printer software.
  3. In the printer software, click Scan a Document or Photo .
  4. Click the More link in the top right corner of the HP Scan dialog. The detailed settings pane appears on the right. The left column summarizes the current settings for each section. The right column allows you to change the settings in the highlighted section.
  5. Click each section at the left of the detailed settings pane to review the settings in that section. You can review and change most settings using drop-down menus. Some settings allow greater flexibility by displaying a new pane. These are indicated by a + (plus sign) at the right of the setting. You must either accept or cancel any changes on this pane to return to the detailed settings pane.
  6. When you have finished changing settings, do one of the following.

    ● Click Scan. You are prompted to save or reject the changes to the shortcut after the scan is finished.

    ● Click the save icon to the right of the shortcut. It saves the changes into the shortcut so that you can reuse them. Otherwise, the changes only affect the current scan. Then click Scan.

Merge the Pages:

  • If the scanned page is saved as a separate file, you’ll need to merge it with the original document. You can do this using a PDF editor (like Adobe Acrobat).
    • Open both the original document and the newly scanned page in your chosen PDF editor.
    • Use the editor’s “Combine” or “Merge” tool to add the new page to the document.

Save the Combined Document:

  • After merging, save the combined document with a new name if you want to preserve the original file, or overwrite the original file if preferred.

Alternatively, if you are scanning directly from the printer’s control panel and saving as a PDF, you can scan multiple pages in one session (automatic document feeder) and select the option to add more pages before finishing the scan.

Thank you Garp...this solved my problem which was that I didn't have a PDF editor.  Sorry to take so long to reply as I had a lot of work to do after I solved the problem.

Hey @Sam8902!

Haha, no problem at all! I’m just happy we cracked the case! 😎 A PDF editor really is the unsung hero of many battles. 💼 No worries about the delay—work has a way of keeping us on our toes, right? If you run into anything else, feel free to reach out. I’ll be here, ready with more solutions and maybe even a joke or two. 😄

Take care and talk soon 😇!
