Second printer with no power cord

I’ve bought a second HP printer in two years because the first one was freaking awful, and the second one arrived today without a power cord, too!!! My old Black Friday special printer from Walmart six years ago has a cord that fits both these printers. My question is, does HP not provide power cords anymore? I stick with HP because of the instant ink program and the simplicity of the print app and integration between devices, but it is incredibly frustrating to not get a power cord!

no, there is no documentation pouch. No foam the cord could be tucked into either. It just isn’t here.

Interesting. HP printers absolutely should 'still' include a power cord (or external power adapter, depending on the model) when sold as a new retail unit.

If the printer arrived with no power cable at all and no documentation pouch/packaging insert where it could have been hidden, then it was most likely:

• a packaging/shipping mistake,
• an opened/returned unit,
• or an incomplete repackaged product. And this is rather odd.  In all my decennia working with HP equipment, yours truly still has to encounter any unit sans its power cord. But then again, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle is a real thing I suppose.

Since your older HP power cord fits and powers the new printer correctly, that is further evidence the new unit really should have included one.

All things being equal, I would recommend:

• checking the box carefully one more time,
• verifying whether the seller advertised the printer as "new" as opposed to "refurbished", "gently used", or something equivalent.
• then contacting either the retailer or HP support for a replacement cord.

If purchased from a major retailer like Walmart or Office Max, they will often should simply ship the missing cable or exchange the printer with zero charge.

Fortuitously, in your case, standard HP printer power cords are commonly interchangeable between many models, so using your existing cord is generally fine as long as:

• the connector fits properly,
• voltage matches your region,
• and the printer powers on normally.

I have to concur with @NonSequitur777 . We well hundreds of printers a month and we test everyone for customers before delivery and have never been short a power cord. You either have the worst luck or you are buying clearance products from Walmart. As you state there was no packaging material for the cord to hide in, how was the printer packaged?
