Serial Number "INVALID" - HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP 3301cdw

Trying to register my new Color Laser Jet Pro MFP 3301cdw purchased 2 weeks ago from Costco and continue to get an error message that my serial number is invalid.  The serial number is listed in 2 separate places and I have tried every combination of "0" and "O".  I cannot get to any help screens or chat with an agent because the first step is to enter the serial number that HP doesn't recognize.  SO FRUSTRATING!  Has anyone else had this problem and how were you able to resolve it?  Tempted to return the printer...it shouldn't be this difficult.
