Keep receiving error “enter valid serial number” after typing in the characters following S/N - can’t move forward to get help with 1st problem

 

New Printer 1st time printing - just want to print page 1 of an 11 page document  

 

have now been working 45 minutes for a solution 

 

appreciate any help guidance - there is no way that I can find to talk to customer support

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 
It sounds like you're dealing with two issues:

Issue 1: "Enter valid serial number" error

  • Double-check the serial number format: It usually consists of letters and numbers (no spaces). Look for "S/N" on the printer label.
  • Use HP Support Assistant or HP Smart App: These tools might detect the serial number automatically.
  • Try entering in lowercase: Some users report that lowercase letters work.
  • If your printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink, check your HP account: The serial number may be listed there.
     

Issue 2: Printing Page 1 Only

  • If using HP Smart App, go to Print > Choose Document > Select Range: Page 1.
  • If using Microsoft Word/PDF viewer, go to Print settings and choose Page Range: 1 before clicking Print.
  • If using a mobile device, check the print preview screen for page selection options.
