Hp 4512

Hi, I was printing some work and all of a sudden it stopped printing! I checked and it says "service station stalled, press ok button to have printer automatically attempt its recovery process" disconnected, connected it, shut off, turned on, took out cartridges, put them back in (they move well inside and are original hp ink cartridges) no paper jam and I try to install firmware but it doesn't let me. It either says, someone is trying to update or update can't be installed right now! I'm so frustrated since the printer was a gift from my husband and he asks me if it's working well and this happens. Not good hp!!!

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding issues with the printer. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Do you see any thin strip (known as an encoder strip) cut and hanging inside the printer mostly near the cartridge area?

(If yes, then it is a hardware failure and you need to reach out to HP phone support to explore the hardware service options).

If everything looks good then you may perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.

  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.

  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.

  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

  • Please open the printer and check if the carriage inside the printer moves freely. You may try to move it (left and right) with your hand.

  • Please check if any ink leakage is present.

If the carriage is stuck then I recommend using the steps mentioned on this link: View this video on YouTube

Alternatively, try the below steps:

Step 1: Clear jammed paper from the printer

There are different areas where jammed paper might become blocked. Clear any jammed paper from one area, then try to print again. If the error persists, check the next area for any jammed paper.

   NOTE:

You need a flashlight to complete these steps.

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

Keep me posted. 🙂
