New to me HP Officejet J4540 All-in-One printer needs the clock set.  It reads Jan 00 00 00:00a

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
 

Let's try this workaround:  (by Dragonfur) 

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to manage and configure many of the settings on the printer.

  • Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
  • Tab Settings > Preferences > Date & Time
  • Sync / Set Date and Time for the printer
  • Click Apply to save changes
