Hi @Stephaniehancoc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding setting up your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP DeskJet printer setup isn’t fully recognized, even though you followed all the steps. Let’s go through some fixes to get it working:

Check HP Smart App Status

  • Open the HP Smart App on your phone or PC.
  • If the setup isn't complete, it may show a "Finish Setup" prompt. Click it and follow any final instructions.

Restart Everything

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router (if using wireless).
  • Restart your PC or phone and then turn the printer back on.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

  • If using Wi-Fi, press and hold the Wi-Fi & Cancel buttons on the printer for 3-5 seconds to reset the connection.
  • Then, go to the HP Smart App and reconnect the printer to your network.

Check for Software & Driver Updates

  • On your computer, visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Install the drivers and restart your computer.

Remove & Re-add the Printer

  • On your PC, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners
  • Click on your HP printer and select Remove Device.
  • Then, add the printer again by clicking "Add a Printer" and following the setup.

Factory Reset the Printer (If Needed)

If nothing works, you may need to reset your printer:

  • Press & hold the Wi-Fi & Power buttons together for 10 seconds until the lights blink.
  • Set up the printer again using HP Smart App.

After doing this, try printing again. Let me know what step worked or if you need more help! 😊
