Setting printer paper with Chromebook

Printer is HP envy 5546. 

Getting printer error message, paper jam. However this is not the problem. It appears the rollers are not picking up plain paper. They will pick up photo paper. The window displays 'A4 , speciality paper'. However when I set the paper to 'plain paper' during the initial print process the printer will not hold that but reverts to 'A4, speciality paper'. 

I have recently changed from Windows 10 to Chromebook and I have a recollection that I could change the default print paper in the setup in Windows. Unfortunately I no longer have that laptop. (it died on me) . Can someone help me to change the setting using my chromebook so that the default setting is plain paper or gives me the ability to switch between the options.  I cannot find a way of doing that. Information from HP tells me how to print but does not help in changing type of paper.
