I am trying to set up the HP 6155 printer. I’m at the point where I’m to put the cartridges in which I have done and heard the click as the instructions noted. I now am getting a repeated message that my cartridges are missing. I have unplugged the computer and plugged it back in after more than 60 seconds and I’m getting the same error. The big issue is is that I would like to remove my cartridges to check and see if there’s some tape that I missed that hasn’t been removed however, the cartridges are in the engaged position meaning that there’s no way that I can get them out obviously, if I slide the cartridge back-and-forth like it would do when printing it doesn’t make a difference. Hopefully somebody can help me. I’m trying to set this up so I can print some very important documents today

Hi @Cwpetal

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you're facing a frustrating issue with your HP 6155 printer during setup.

Here are some steps to help you resolve the problem and check the cartridges:

1. Reset the Printer

  • Steps:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    2. Wait for about 60 seconds to allow the printer to reset.
    3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
    4. Check if the cartridge carriage moves to the accessible position.

2. Manually Move the Cartridge Carriage

  • If the cartridge carriage remains stuck:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    2. Open the printer cover and gently try to move the cartridge carriage to the center using your hand. Be careful not to force it.

3. Inspect the Cartridges

  • Once the cartridges are accessible:
    1. Remove each cartridge and check for any protective tape that might still be attached.
    2. Clean the cartridge contacts with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.
    3. Reinsert the cartridges securely, ensuring they click into place.

4. Perform a Hard Reset

  • If the issue persists, perform a hard reset:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    2. Press and hold the Power button for 15–30 seconds.
    3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
