I have been receiving this error in addition to setup incomplete error on HP OfficeJet Pro 9130e series printer.

An IT on my working place has tried to resolve the issue but nothing worked. He has tried to delete the printer on the computer and load again, setup again etc.

Your assistance on this matter would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi @BehlulMurat,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing the image. Based on what I can see from the printer screen, your HP OfficeJet Pro 9130e series printer is showing the following error:

"Problem 0xFAAF"
"A critical system error has occurred."

  • Restart the printer and try again.
  • If the problem persists, contact your product representative.
    FW Version: 6.213.3.221502 (0040B1)

This is a firmware-level system error that generally indicates a deeper hardware or system fault within the printer itself.

Here's what you can try:

Step 1: Power Reset

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cable from the wall and the printer.
  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (not a power strip).
  5. Turn it back on.

Sometimes this clears temporary firmware faults.

Step 2: Check for Setup Incomplete Loop

If your printer is also stuck in a “Setup Incomplete” loop:

  • Use the HP Smart app (on a phone or PC) and make sure:
    • You’ve completed all setup steps (including Wi-Fi, ink cartridge insertion, etc.)
    • The printer is added and activated with your HP account.

Step 3: Force Firmware Update (if accessible)

Since the error is firmware-related, updating might help:

  1. Go to HP OfficeJet Pro 9130e All-in-One series Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.
  2. Download the latest firmware and install it via USB or network.

Note: If the printer doesn’t respond or allow firmware updates due to the crash, this step might not be possible.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
