HP Deskjet 3700 All-in-One Printer

My wife bought an HP Deskjet 3700 All-in-One printer about a year ago. I changed the admin password when I set this up for her. Now I don't know it. How can I  reset the printer to factory default settings? Or if possible, replace the currently unknown password. I saw a lot of posts about restoring network default settings. This is not what I need. Some posts implied that HP has a specific method that corresponds to specific printer models to set their printers back to factory default settings. Some implied using the wrong method can brick the printer. So this is where I leave you. Please help! My sanity is in your hands. And thank you in advance to the people who are taking the time to help with this.

Hi @dlee63113,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to reset the HP Deskjet 3700 All-in-One printer to factory default settings should help you regain access if you've forgotten the admin password.

Here's a step-by-step guide to reset the printer:

  • Turn on the Printer: Make sure your printer is powered on and ready.
  • Reset Process: To initiate the reset process, you need to press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button simultaneously. Hold them down for about five seconds. The Power light should start blinking during this process.
  • Release Buttons: After holding down the Wireless button and Cancel button for about five seconds, release them. The printer will then start the reset process.
  • Wait for Reset: Allow the printer a few moments to complete the reset process. The Power light may blink for a while as the reset is in progress.
  • Setup Again: Once the reset is complete, the printer will return to its factory default settings, including the admin password. You'll need to set up the printer again, including connecting it to your network and configuring any desired settings.
  • Accessing the Printer Settings: After the reset, you should be able to access the printer settings using the default credentials, which are often found in the printer's documentation. If you can't find the default credentials, try common combinations like "admin" for the username and "password" for the password.
  • Change Password: Once you've regained access to the printer settings, you can set a new admin password to secure the printer.
  • Please note that performing a factory reset will erase any custom settings or configurations you've set up on the printer, so you'll need to reconfigure those after the reset. Additionally, make sure to refer to the printer's manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
