My printer is several years old. It started acting flaky when connected wirelessly, so I decided to try an ethernet connection. HP setup cannot locate the printer. The printer reports Network Status as Ready and Connection Type as Wired. It also recognizes the network SSID. The URL reporter by the printer is 169.254.82.92, which the setup software says is a "temporary placeholder." I have rebooted the router, no luck. Appreciate any ideas!

Hi,
Try connecting the printer to another LAN port of your router and check, also try replacing the ethernet cable and check.
169.254.82.92 is a self-assigned (APIPA) address for the printer, not getting IP by the router, your printer needs a proper IP address assigned by your router first.
