HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just unpacked the printer. I will say this packaging is incredible. First, getting out of the tight fitting box is a breeze. There's strap that you put up (or out if you have the box sitting flat.). Just pull it, out it comes. There's blue tape strips everywhere. Other printers I've unpacked make you guess at 1) where all of the are, 2) how to find the end you need to pull on. These are all easy to see and clear which end to work with. Kudos to HP.

The install instructions are terse, 3 steps: unpack, go to a website, click the HP Smart link. HP smart asks a few question, name, country, printer serial number. In my case, that's where the trouble starts. It says the printer is offline. Its display panel accepts things like country, pretty much the same thing you just told HP Smart. After choosing what I want to do next DUH, I land at a site. I've been #6 on the queue for 20 minutes. Deja Vu all over again.

Another 2 hours of HP support chat.  I'm disappointed. Everything they did I could have done on my own, all they need to do i give me crib sheet. The one task I can't do is download the scan-to-pdf utility. She stiff-armed me over and over on that. Actually suggested I get it from the Microsoft app store😀

If someone here knows where to find it, please let me know.

My bad. Our chatting had become unfriendly, unpleasant. I was upset and impatient that my hot-button issue (the scan-to-pdf utiity) hadn't been resolved. I had already made up my mind that the HP Smart app was just fluff to do tasks that a computer-knowledgable user didn't need. But HP Smart does have the scan-to-pdf capability, it just isn't shown as a separate icon on the opening screen. Turns out, if you click Scan and drill down a couple levels, it's there.  I was rude and I wish that I could apologize to her. I guess my attitude grew unpleasant during the remote-in session when she wasn't responding to my requests to ask her to let me make a comment or ask a question. I feel that she could own some of that.

A legitimate but admittedly very small objection to the utility is that it doesn't permit a space in the filename. "Annual Expense Report" has to be specified as "Annual_Expense_Report". Picky-picky.😓
