For those facing the “setup cartridge” issue, this was resolved by opening the printer cartridge access door, and holding the wi-fi button on the BACK of the printer near the power cable, not the soft key on the front. I had to repeat the process a few times but it eventually worked to override the setup cartridge requirement.

I wasn't able to get any info on this site, not so sure HP wants people to know this. I'll mention it here, see if it gets cancelled 😕
I did get my printer fixed, I managed with some help from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIQ-igG3K4&t=145s which is for a different HP printer, and some guessing, to get into service mode and change some settings,
The procedure is valid for my HP Photosmart Premium C410 on which the previous owner did a factory reset:
- Press and hold cancel and press OK simultaneously and let both keys go
- Press the home key and then the keys 1 2 3
- Press right arrow until in System Configuration Menu, then OK
- TradeatOOBE displays. Press OK
- No Trade displays. Press right arrow
- Trade displays. Press OK
- Press Cancel until exited from Menu
- Turn printer off and on again.
- It should now not display the warning anymore. My printer is working fine since I did this.
Hope this helps you Bubenbej!

Good evening, can you please assist me in how I can setup my printer without the original setup cartridges? When the printer arrived they were leaking and the tape was ripped off and I was afraid that they would ruin the printer if I installed them, so I discarded them thinking I could just complete the initial printer setup with the brand new cartridges that i ordered from HP Instant Ink. However I just installed the new ones and am just now realizing that I cannot complete the setup process without the originals so I'm not sure how to proceed from here....can you please assist me with bypassing this step? Thank you very much for your assistance.
Best Regards,
LG

Hi. Try to do this steps . Printer on , open front cover , push and keep 3-5 sec. wifi button , then release the button and close front cover. If this not help , try the same steps without cartridges , and then put cartridge(s) back . Good luck
