HP OfficeJet Pro 8124e All-in-One Printer

My printer recently did an automatic firmware update. Since then I can't print A5 borderless printing, which I use each week. I haven't changed anything in my settings on my mac, and can't work out what to do. Would be grateful for any suggestions.

THANK YOU HP. I bought this printer for my business because it prints A5 borderless. The firmware update that you just did has taken that option away from me, and the HP rep, said I'd have to buy another printer!

Hi @stationerygeek,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the firmware update may have changed some settings or affected the printer's ability to print borderless. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check Printer Settings:

  • On your Mac, open System Preferences and go to Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8124e and click Options & Supplies.
  • Go to the Driver tab and ensure that the correct printer model and driver are selected.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8124e.
  • Install the updated drivers and restart your Mac to see if it resolves the issue.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Open the document you want to print.
  • Go to File > Print and click on Show Details if the print dialog does not show advanced options.
  • Look for the Borderless option under Paper Size or Layout. Ensure it is selected.

Printer Preferences:

  • Go to System Preferences and select Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Options & Supplies.
  • Click on Utility and then Print Head Alignment or Printer Maintenance to ensure everything is properly aligned.

Restore Factory Settings:

  • If nothing else works, you can try restoring the printer to factory settings. This can usually be done through the printer's control panel. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to do this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
