Envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had this printer for a few years and it has worked fine, however I recently started to have problems with it and I was advised to remove the driver and reinstall it.

I took it off without issue but have had lots of problems trying to reinstall it. I tried using the App but that was dreadful. I have now managed to get the driver on but I no longer get the otion to print in colour.

Hi @threeboysmum

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printing issue.

Please try adding the printer using the TCP/ IP port -

1.) Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.

2.) Choose “Printers & scanners“.

3.) Select “Add a printer or scanner“.

4.) Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.

5.) Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.

6.) Select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.

7.) Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.

8.) Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have done what you said. It still is a bit odd.

When I go to the control panel the driver listed says HP Envy 4520,

When I go to print something the printer options that come up don't give the option to print in colour.

I now have the option to print two sided which had been lost previously also.

Thank you and if anyone can tell me how to get colour option back I'd be grateful.

Thank you

Thanks for getting back to us @threeboysmum

  • Does the color copy works?
  • Have you tried color printing from a mobile device or a different computer?

Let me know.
