Smart Tank 7005 cannot handle 5x7 photo paper

The printer works fine, EXCEPT when I try to use 5x7 photo paper. In that case, it starts printing the image way before the paper reaches the cartridge, spitting out the last couple of centimiters of the photo, and leaving the rest of the paper white. This defect happens from every OS: I tried MacOS (25 & later 26), Windows (10 and 11) and Android (Samsung).

The only workaround that I found to work was to set up as custom landscape paper (7x5) and load it as such. This was already reported for another printer of the family (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/Unwanted-border-on-photo-print/m-p/9217...) so this reeks of firmware bug.

Please fix this, it made me waste a ton of premium lucid photo paper.

The paper weight (mentioned in the thread you referenced) is not a supported paper weight for this printer model.

Unsupported paper means the printer is not able to -- and / or not tested to support - the paper type, size, and / or paper weight.   Print surface is also important, though not related to the current question.

True, as long as the printer is clean, is in very good condition, and is provided with a working environment that is supported (temperature, sturdy flat surface, decent, stable power, good connection), the printer might perform outside of its specifications.

True, too, within specification and using a custom paper form size, the printer should print supported paper size and type at 5x7 inches.

No Size?  If the size of the Paper Size is not included in the Drop-down list, consider / try:  Create a Custom Paper Size Form.
