Hi. Does the Smart Tank Plus 550 support automatic cleaning. Where it makes sure that the printhead doesn't get clogged without me having to do anything manually.
The other option would be for me to every other week send an email to the printer and make it print. If that is possible. Basically, this is how it would go: the printer is hibernating, i schedule future emails to the printer's email with an attachment that the printer will print, the printer wakes from the hibernation automatically and prints. This would then make sure the printer doesn't clog. The HP manual for 550 says it has a print by email option, but im not sure it will awaken the printer from hibernation:
"HP ePrint is a free service from HP that allows you to print to your HP ePrint-enabled printer anytime,
from any location. It's as simple as sending an email to the email address assigned to your printer when
you enable Web Services on the printer. No special drivers or software are needed. If you can send an
email, you can print from anywhere, using HP ePrint."
Thank you for the help

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you want to set auto clean on this printer, I am glad to assist you.
You can run a cleaning routine from the printer software to prevent back of page smearing.
(Clean the printheads only when necessary. Unnecessary cleaning wastes ink and shortens the life of the printheads.)
1. Load Letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
2. In the HP printer software (available from the Start menu), click Print & Scan at the top of the window.
3. In the Print section, click Maintain Your Printer to access the Toolbox.
4. In the Toolbox, click the Device Services tab, click the desired option, and then follow the onscreen instructions.

Let me know how it goes.
