Hi,
I recently purchased the Smart Tank 7602. It's a great printer but there is one annoying thing that's happening. The power cord connection on the back of the printer isn't very secure. As a result, any bump to the table that it is on, results in the printer losing power. Does anyone know how to find a right-angle cord that might work better than the cord provided?
Thanks!

Hi @Techmom31,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the power cord isn't fitting snugly into your HP Smart Tank 7602, which can definitely be frustrating. While HP doesn't specifically make right-angle power cords for their printers, there are a couple of options you can consider to solve this issue.
Check the Connector Type
- The HP Smart Tank 7602 likely uses a standard power cord. Look at the end that plugs into the printer and identify whether it's a barrel-style connector or a figure-eight (C7) connector.
- If it's a barrel connector, you'll need to measure its diameter and length to find a compatible replacement.
- If it's a figure-eight connector, any universal right-angle C7 power cord should work.
Purchase a Right-Angle Adapter or Cord
- Search for a right-angle power adapter or cable with the same specifications as the provided cord. You can find these online by searching for "right-angle [connector type] power cord."
- Ensure that the voltage, amperage, and connector type match exactly to avoid compatibility issues or damaging your printer.
Secure the Current Power Cord
- If you're unable to find a right-angle cord, you can use cable clips or adhesive hooks to secure the cord closer to the printer. This will reduce the strain on the connection and minimize the chance of it coming loose.
- You might also use a small strip of electrical tape to hold the cord in place temporarily until you find a replacement.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I have the same problem!!! That cord should fit so snuggly into the printer that it would take a Philadelphia Eagle lineman to pull it out. Buying a new power cord as a solution is absurd. Taping the cord in place?! This sounds like a HP problem not a consumer problem.

I just took the printer out of the box and installed it and have this same issue. It's hours old!! And buying a new cord should not be an accepted solution. If it's an issue then HP should be supplying the replacement cord!!! It literally falls out!!

There is no excuse for this. It is just BAD DESIGN. HP need some real engineers in the job who want to make the best. If the pathetic socket cannot be relied on 100%, it should not be in the product. Designing and testing cannot all be done on a keyboard.
