I had the same problem - cable needs a lot of force applied to get it to stay in. But thanks - now it does. The set up instructions need to be amended as so many people have the same issue.

I have tried plugging in the cord hard, and it still is not firm and comes right out. I agree that I should not have to purchase another cord.

Several HP printers have the same loose fit power cord problem and after my own (Electrical Engineer) testing and research of the problem in my opinion there is likely a manufacturing defect in the IEC 60320 standard C8 inlet pins being undersized rather than the cords being oversized. If that is the case, HP has no easy solution to the problem and I'm guessing their engineers have known this for some time. Note that a warranty exchange for a new replacement printer would have the same loose fit power cord problem because HP has not redesigned the C8 AC power connector on the printer and substituted a new manufacturer's part number replacement. What then can printer owners with this problem do to make use of a new $400 HP printer that is useless if it cannot be connected to the AC power source? A temporary fix that may work is to apply a Velcro hook patch just above the  rear panel AC cord C8 inlet connector and wrap a 4 inch length of the Velcro loop about 1 inch or so up from the cord connector around the cord itself.  Then while inserting the cord connector, apply some upward force before Velcro-ing the cord loop to the Velcro hook patch above the C8 printer connector. This may force the two pins to make a jury rigged electrical contact that HP would not endorse because of a potential fire hazard the IEC 60320 standard is designed to protect against.
