Welcome to the HP Community.

Wi-Fi Direct is a direct printer connection that uses the printer's onboard wireless radio to connect to your device.

Wi-Fi Direct does not provide an Internet connection and includes other limitations, too.

What's next?

If your printer won't connect to your router controlled network,

The issue might be the result of the connection type or connection speed (band / frequency).

For example, not all printers support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidth.

HP manufactures thousands of printers and dozens of models.

There is no way for us to guess which model of printer you have.

You can check this type of information on your own.

Understanding what your particular printer can do will help you decide how you set up the printer on your network.

Open the Printer's Home Page

Open Category Product Information

Select Topic Specifications

Open the specification document for your printer

Check the Connectivity section
