I have had this printer for about 1.5 years. Today I tried to print and found that it was acting as if it is a brand new printer that needs to be set up. The display shows a message to download hp smart software and a qr code that points to https://www.hpsmart.com/assets/pdfs/retailer-setup-en.pdf

I tried using the HP Smart software on my computer to cycle back through the setup process. HP Smart now sees the printer as "Ready." However the display on the printer still looks as if it is a brand new printer that needs to be set up.

Yes, I have power cycled it. But have not tried a factory reset.

Hi,

Please open HP Smart and then click Printer Settings.

From the left pane, select Advanced Settings and press OK to confirm.

Within the Tools tab select Align Printer (It may be listed as Align Cartridges or Printer Alignment), then follow the steps on screen to complete the alignment process,

Upon the alignment completion, the message on the screen should likely no longer appear.

Please let me know how it goes,
Shlomi

Found the printhead alignment in Settings - Tools - Utilities - Print Quality Toolbox - Align Printhead. Ran it twice. Once using the printer touchscreen to proceed with scanning of the alignment page. A second time clicking the button in the HP Smart app to proceed with scanning of the alignment page. In both cases the printer screen reverts back to "Download HP Software..." with QR code displayed.
