HP Smart Tank 7602 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

SmartTank 7602 is set up; how can I get it to send all scans automatically to to my desktop?

It's new and I just set it up; I can't find a setting anywhere.

My 7602 is connected to my pc (wirelessly) and I'd like to scan from the glass and have the option to have the scan to go my pc.

I can't find any setting to do that.

thanks!

Hi,

Since posting this, (and before I saw your answer) I did click on (on my desktop pc -- not in my iphone) some things in the smart app.

I clicked on ‘print’ and ‘scan’ separately to try to set things up while waiting for an answer. And, at one point (either in print? or scan?) it did ask me to download something. But I thought it was in the printer section?  Is there more than one download in the smart app? I don’t think so?

But I didn’t get an HP scan software shortcut to the desktop. I’m confused, maybe your instructions are not for my HP smart tank 7602 printer? Those images in your HP printer asst don’t look familiar to me. Anyway, I’m really confused with a lot in the answer.

Then I proceeded to click on scan in my desktop smart app. But, there’s no settings in there to scan directly to my desktop; so I’m confused here as well.

Are there any other instructions?

thanks

It occurs to me from your description that I might not understand your question or your printer model well enough to answer as needed.

I have removed my previous post to make room for someone to answer who understands the printer model better and understands your question.

In parting...

If the installed full driver printer software for your computer does not include either the Printer Assistant or the Scan Assistant Shortcut on the Desktop,

and / or

If the assistant shortcut does not include the Manage Scan to Computer feature,

then

The Scan to Computer feature is not supported in the full driver printer software for this printer model.

If Scan to Computer is not supported,

You must use applications or software on your computer to scan the content and save (or print) it how you want it done.

================================================

HP Smart might not do what you want --

The application cannot select a default destination folder.

If you use HP Smart on your Windows computer, you can certainly choose to Save the content to one of the folders in your computer but you do have to select the destination folder.

Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan Document and Save

HP_Smart_Win_Scan_Document_Save_14HP_Smart_Win_Scan_Document_Save_14

=================================================

The Full Driver / Full Solution Software does include HP Scan --

HP Scan does understand how to save to a default folder (on your computer).

HP Scan / HP Universal Scan - Main menu - More > Destination

Hi,

thanks for getting back to me.

I tried clicking on the link at the bottom after the words "full solution/full driver printer software..." the HP easy start printer setup software; but yesterday and today that page isn't working? says temporarily unavailable, but it may be permanent?

I don't know if that will help or not; but thanks anyway. As it stands now, when I click on "printer scan" in the smart app; there is very very little you can do. That is also the case in the HP smart app on my pc.

are you an employee or a volunteer?

thanks

Long time Volunteer.

I cannot explain the link to the web page not working -- perhaps try a different browser.

?

Direct link to software web pack:

HPEasyStart-16.2.4-ST7600_55_3_5043_Webpack.exe

Download, Save, Install

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

True -

HP Smart in Mobile is a different app than HP Smart in Windows --

There are many similarities but the example I posted for HP Smart in Windows does not represent an example of using HP Smart on a Mobile device.

and...

True, too -- HP Smart Mobile is in the process of being updated for a new format -- the HP App scan and print features work very much the same as the current HP Smart app though the opening menu is different from any current HP Smart menu in Windows OR Mobile.    Worse, the launch of the new HP App (for mobile devices) is by being done region (location on the planet) -- one day you might have HP Smart, the next the new HP App will be installed.

I am sorry I cannot explain, well anything, the way you need it done.

So far this discussion is bouncing all over the place from Mobile to Windows and back.

It's difficult enough to explain one "how-to" without having to explain the whole apps and software setups.

I have perhaps not done a good job of it.

Perhaps start over -- start a new Post / Question.

I won't answer --

Good Luck.

Hi,

thanks for vounteering!

so I did install that; apparently it's completely different and separate from the HP Smart app; and I guess it's designed to provide more functionality? So much information.

Why is it necessary to restart the computer after installing that? It appears to open ok? Does restarting do something for this program; or in general you'd recommend that when installing any software?

maybe after I go through this, it will do what I want?

thanks

Yes, the full driver printer software and the HP Scan software are very different from the HP Smart application.

The full driver supports printing from within Word, Adobe Reader, and other software programs.

The newly formatted HP Scan software (installed with the full driver) is much like its predecessor (the original HP Scan) -- the "new" HP Scan is formatted to work with high-resolution screens without shrinking down to a tiny spec and the software includes some added features, too.   Nice software.

============================================

Honestly, I do not know whether the printer is able to "Scan to Computer".

I've never seen a Smart Tank Printer nor have I worked with the printer's Control Panel buttons.

If there is a Printer Assistant or a Scan Assistant shortcut on the Desktop (added after you installed the full driver)

and

If you can ENABLE the Manage Scan to Computer

then

Maybe yes -

Standing at the printer and clicking scan might do what you expect (or at least close to it).

?

General Example

HP_Printer_Assistant_HP_Scan_Assistant_4HP_Printer_Assistant_HP_Scan_Assistant_4

From the printer's user manual, a cryptic note on Page 5

Scan
Select a destination for your scan.

============================================

What else?

Right on that same page in the user manual, is reference to HP Smart Shortcuts.

If you are ready to tackle a different way to use HP Smart,

AND

If you are willing to save your scanned content into a supported Cloud Account (for example, OneDrive folders),

Then

HP Smart supports "Shortcuts" that can be created and used to scanned content to designated Cloud Account folders.

This is a bit more advanced than simply opening HP Smart on your Windows machine and clicking Scan Documents or Scan Photos.

The "different part" is the setup and use of an HP Smart Shortcut to take that scanned content and save it to a pre-selected location -- one of your Cloud account folders.

The first part is the same -- open the HP Smart App > select what you want to do > scan the content

First,

Create the HP Smart Shortcut

Next,

Use HP Smart app to scan the content -- Scan Documents or Scan Photos

Next,

Instead of clicking "Save" for "next action", click "Shortcuts"

Next,

Select the Shortcut you've created for this type of task

The Shortcut will save the scanned content into the Cloud account folder that you chose when creating the Shortcut.

At the moment I do not have a step-by-step instruction set --

There might be one, I don't have my hands on it.

I do have an example plate that might be useful...

HP_Smart_Shortcuts_Cloud_Save_PDF_10HP_Smart_Shortcuts_Cloud_Save_PDF_10

====================================

That's it - I'm out of ideas.

I hope you can get at least part of what you want out of the apps and software.
